Imagine you have sent off for some information and unwittingly become a multi level marketing lead.

We have all been there - not necessarily with a network marketing opportunity but, we are just sitting down for tea at the end of a hard day's work, the kids are in bed, you are looking forward to a little bit of peace and quiet and the phone rings. On the end of the phone is someone who can't even get your name right trying to sound cheerful and friendly.

Are you pleased to receive their call?

Of course not!

Even if they had the most wonderful, genuine mlm opportunity in the world to speak to you about you would never find out because I bet you get them off the phone as quickly as you can! I know I do. My hackles rise within the first 5 seconds when I realise that it is any kind of marketing call let alone one for multi level marketing.

In many cases, we may even be breaking the law calling people due to schemes such as the Telephone Preference Service in the United Kingdom.

If we have bought the lead, we have no control over how many other people have called them about the next great business opportunity and that is before we even think about the effort it takes some of us to pick the phone up to call in the first place.

I don't know about you but cold calling prospects is absolutely the worst possible thing that I could do for my business.

First there is the fear of calling in the first place, anticipating the rejection before we even start.

Then, we need to know just what to say. If we have a script, we are likely to sound unatural and get nowhere again.
